Hi Everyone. Hope Everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was grand!! Sorry I haven't posted lately. Recently I purchased one of those personal cutter machines called eCraft. Well after testing it for a couple of days, I decided it just didn't live up to what I thought it would be. Have called the company that I ordered it from online; seems only one person there can handle returns and he is out till Dec 30th. I know, Crazy Right? Anyways in the meantime while I'm waiting for him to return I've order the new Cricut Imagine. Watched all the demos on the Cricut Site and also videos from other crafters on YouTube. It looks awesome. I think I'm gonna like the idea that it prints too! Will have to post my thoughts on it once I try it out. I've never really scrapedbooked per se, but I'm ready to take the plunge! I made my own Christmas Cards this year. Used one of those stampers and some embossing powder. They were cute, but with a Cricut I think I can turn out something much prettier.

Fish Taco Recipe

I love sharing recipes. Here's a good one that I love to make. Hope you enjoy also.

Ingredients For Taco

Talapia Fish - Not the breaded kind - Cook enough - I usually cook 2lbs
Corn tortillas - not the crunchy kind
Flour Tortillas
Cabbage - Use instead of lettuce - shredded
Mayo - 1/2 cup
Chipotle Tabasco Hot Sauce
Chile Powder
Garlic Powder

Picture to above is of the Pico De Gio

Ingredients for Pico De Gio

Chop all these ingredients by hand - makes for a better Pico that doing in a blender or chopper.
Roma Tomatoes - about 8 to 10 of them
Red Onion - bout 1/2 of it
Jalapeno - 3 of them deseeded
Banana Pepper - 1 deseeded
Cilantro - a good handful
Garlic - the kind in a jar or you can chop fresh. I like it garlicky so I put alot
Apple Cider Vinegar - about 1/4 cup
Salt and Pepper - to taste

Sprinkle Chile and garlic powder on top of talapia and place on grill that has been lined with foil. Be sure to spray foil with cooking spray 1st. Cook till fish is done. Don't over cook or else it will be hard to remove from the foil (yep I've done this).

Mix mayo and chipotle hot sauce together. Mix enough hot sauce in until it turns almost a salmon color. This will be somewhat thin. Think I may try sour cream next go around.

Heat the flour and corn tortillas in a frying pan (I use cooking oil spray on them, but do what you like) and place in a tortilla warmer until you get the amount you want. You will use two shells per taco. The flour on the outside and then the corn one then spread some of the mayo sauce on top and then top with fish. Add shredded cabbage then top with Pico.

Well, I hope you all enjoy!

Laundry Soap Anyone??

Just listed my laundry soap on Zibbet. http://www.zibbet.com/NanneysCreek/artwork?artworkId=98471 I'm running a giveaway for a free trial size. So, become follower of my blog and I will randomly pick one lucky winner at the end of August. Go to www.zibbet.com/nanneyscreek for product details.

What soap of yours do you just absolutely hate? I was testing out a piece of guttering and some round pvc tubes and this is what I got. Needless to say, I don't like it. Just wasn't that image I had in my mind. Oh well, back to the drawing board as they say. I do so love all those creative soap makers out there in the soaping world who are so creative. Love this scent tho, Fresh Ginger Lime. So Crisp and Clean smelling. So all you soapers out there send me your pic of that soap you just hate and I'll post. Send to nanneyscreekbathandbody@yahoo.com.

It has been hard getting things back up and running after about a year hiatus. Lost all my soaping and butter recipes about a year ago, due to a dang computer virus that I actually bought. The virus I bought represented themselves as Microsoft. What a dummy I was. Needless to say, it's like starting over from square one. Also I work full time as a nurse in a local busy ER. Makes for a busy schedule, but no matter. I love what I do.

WIN a $50 Zibbet Shopping Spree!

Zibbet.....A Handmade Meca

I recently joined the Zibbet community of sellers. What is this? It's a site where people who make handmade goods can sell their wares. Similar to Etsy and Artfire, which I love too. I love all the stuff you can find on this place, from artwork to jewelry and more bath and body products. A place where you can share your passion for handmade. There is a free feature on Zibbet if you want to try out a temporary store site. My Zibbet store features my line of bath products and also my candles. Best of Both Worlds - Cold Process with Vegetable Glycerine

Sorry for not blogging lately like I should. Just life has been keeping me busy. I created a new soap. Well it's new for me anyway. I call this my Best of Both Worlds Soap. Why? Because I've combined vegetable glycerin soap with cold process soap. The outcome was much better than I expected. The lather is to die for, I really really like it, so very creamy. This one is in the "Lick Me All Over" scent. Sounds sexy doesn't it? My BF said put purple in it to represent Passion, so I did. Hope you like it as much as I do.
You can order this Sexy Scent at http://www.nanneyscreek.artfire.com or
http://www.zibbet.com/nanneyscreek
Reminder: Being that this is handmade soap bars no two bars will be alike. Hope you enjoy this soap as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by my blog to take a look.

New Soap on the Block

This is my Bergamot Grapefruit Essential Oil Blend Soap with Sea Kelp. It has a tangy sweet fragrance and lots of luscious lather. Citrus blends are great for that morning shower or bath. These type of scents energize the senses. Grapefruit and Bergamot are both sources of Vitamin C which is great as a skin antioxidant and the sea kelp is a good source of Vitamin A which is know for improving skin elasticity. This is a bar I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Twittering

I twitter under the name SimplySoaps. I'm trying to convert over to NanneysCreek, it's just taking time. I've gained many followers through this venue. I've yet to sell anything using any social media sites. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I know I need to work on my packaging and make my photos more appealing. Sometimes I get discouraged, but I'll keep trying, no quitter here.

I've met a lot of wonderful artist and admire their crafts and abilities. It's a pleasure twittering with all of you. I wish everyone continued success in all you do. If anyone can offer suggestions, my ears are open.

Just Listed - Patchouli Rose

This is a very romantic scent. Patchouli is an earthy scent and blended with rose fragrance it makes a very nice sexy scent. I've added dried rose petals to the soap also, giving it an extra added zing. The lather is very creamy and frothy. Very Nice!!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I'm off to make a batch of soap. I'm thinking maybe Mango Madness. Sounds yummy doesn't it? This is also a good scent for a candle. Maybe I'll make that too!! Will post a pic when I'm done.

Thomas and I took the dogs to the beach and the doggie park today. Wore them out!! LOL. It was beautiful here in Va. Beach today, even with the occasional shower. Hey everyone! My name is Kathy and I live in Virginia Beach. I'm just starting up my blog and my site with artfire. You can view my artfire site at: http://www.nanneyscreek.artfire.com/. I make a variety of things. Soy candles, soap (natural and glycerin), and bath salts. I'll be adding new products as time allows. This pic is of my 24oz Soy Candle. It will burn for up to 100-120 hours. Soy candles are really a nice alternative to paraffin. They clean up nicely if spilled and they give off less soot in the air we breathe. For those with asthma, just makes for a better choice. Also, since soy wax is made from soybeans, we all will be supporting American Farmers.
Hi All!! I'm new to this blogging stuff so bare with me as I learn my way around. Any input is greatly appreciated. I certainly hope that sharing info, ideas, and such would be an ok thing. Happy Blogging!!
